Birds In Bardia

Bardia is a great place for residential, migrant and some vagrant birds species. About 70% land covered with forest and remaining area covered with grassland and riverine forest which is very potential habitat for birds. Karnali, Geruwa and Babai are the major water sources for maintaining eco-balance of this forest.

Time to time bird survey conduct through BNCC, Local school Students, Communities  and some volunteers from abroad. Till now 500+ different birds species recorded so far,  among them the Bengal Florical, White_rumped vulture, Peafowl, and Bar-headed goose, which are symbolic of the park. Lesser florical and Sarus crane are present, Grey-crowned prinia, Jungle Prinia, Bristaled grassbird, Pale-footed bush warbler, Aberrent bush warbler, Striated grassbird, golden headed cisticola and Chestnut-capped babbler occur in the park's grasslands.. Birds lover, photographers love this place to capture some unusual moments of natural World.

Fact about Nepal 
(Nepal’s biodiversity strength is well reflected with high number of bird species. So far, 886 species of birds have been recorded in Nepal, which are about 9% of the total bird species found worldwide. Among them 42 species are globally threatened and 35 globally near threatened. Further, 167 species are nationally threatened.
Spiny Babbler Acanthoptila nipalensisis the only endemic bird of Nepal. Nine species; Himalayan Monal, Cheer Pheasant, Satyr Tragopan, Bengal Florican, Lesser Florican, Great Hornbill, Sarus Crane, Black Stork and White Stork are protected birds of Nepal.
Eight species; Jungle Bush Quail, Rufous-necked Hornbill, Silver-breasted Broadbill, Green Cochoa, Black-breasted Parrotbill, Pink-headed Duck and White-bellied Heron are thought to be regionally extinct.) Source (BCN) Birds Conservation Nepal
