Jeep safari tour or Jungle walk?

Bardia National Park is a unique destination to see Bengal Tigers, Asiatic Elephants, One-horned Rhinoceros, Leopards, Crocodiles, Ganges River Dolphin and more than 400 species of birds.

Rhino lodge Bardia has plenty of activities to offer our clients but the most iconic and popular ones are the jeep safari tour and the jungle walk.

What's the difference between them?

Jungle walks allow sightseers to move in silence and give a much greater chance of viewing animals due to the minimal noise/disturbance we cause. Now in the low season, the vegetation is in full bloom and allows you to connect with nature in all its wildness.

As well as walking silently, we will also wait and hide behind trees or bushes overlooking the river/watering holes where animals come to drink/refresh, to further increase our chances of viewing wild animals.
Our expert guides can design walking tours from three hours to a full day to discover the national park and give you an incredible time in it.

Recently in one of our walking tours, we saw a One-horned Rhino, a young Gharial, lots of Spotted Deer, several Common Langur, lots of Rhesus Macaques, a juvenile Indian Rock Python, a family party of 9 Smooth-coated Otters and numerous stunning birds, such as Indian Pitta, Stork-billed Kingfisher, Asian Paradise Flycatcher and Emerald Dove.

Visiting the jungle by jeep allows sightseers to explore an extended area of the National Park; our guides will take you from one part of the jungle to another until you connect with some of your target species.
We will stop the jeep in several places and we will walk to spot the wild animals, going deeper into the jungle without the noise of the jeep.
We will also climb a tower in the jungle to have a look at the wild animals nearby.

We recommend this option for people with kids, the elderly or for those who would rather sit back and relax rather than walk.

Jeep safari tour ready to go

Recently in one of our jeep safaris we spotted an impressively large male Leopard (a very difficult species to see), 4 Bengal Monitors,  a Gharial,  lots of Spotted Deer,  several large groups of Common Langur and Rhesus Macaques and lovely birds such as Red Junglefowl (the original ancestor of today's domestic chicken), Peacock, Asian Paradise Flycatcher, Painted Stork, Crested Serpent Eagle and Emerald Dove, as well as lots of butterflies and insects.

Even though, we are in the low season (in our lodge and in the National Park), we have spotted several interesting animals by the river (just 5 min' away from our place), including Asiatic Elephant (a herd of 42 members), Marsh Mugger Crocodile and Ganges River Dolphin.

So don't hesitate and come visit us, there is plenty to see and enjoy!
